1. General Agreement

By registering for and participating in horseback riding lessons or training programs offered by Iron Ledge Farm (hereafter “Provider”), participants and/or their legal guardians (if under 18) agree to abide by the following terms and conditions.

2. Eligibility

Participants must be in good physical health and able to follow instructions. Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a liability waiver and be present during lessons unless otherwise agreed.

3. Risks and Safety Acknowledgement

Horseback riding is a physical activity that involves inherent risks, including but not limited to falling, being kicked or bitten by a horse, or injury from equipment failure.

  • By participating, the rider acknowledges:

  • They understand and accept the risks involved;

  • They will wear an ASTM/SEI-approved helmet at all times while mounted;

  • They will follow all safety instructions provided by the instructor or staff;

  • Provider reserves the right to terminate any lesson if safety is compromised.

4. Liability Waiver

In accordance with Maine’s Equine Liability Law (7 M.R.S. §4103-A), participants acknowledge that:

"Under Maine law, an equine professional has limited liability for an injury or death resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities."

Participants (or their guardians) agree to waive, release, and hold harmless Iron Ledge Farm LLC, its owners, instructors, agents, and volunteers from any and all liability for injury, loss, or damage, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

5. Scheduling and Cancellation Policy

Lessons are by appointment only.

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged.

In case of inclement weather or unsafe conditions, Provider may reschedule at no cost.

No-shows or late cancellations will be charged the full lesson fee.

6. Payment Terms

All payments are due prior to or at the time of service.

Accepted forms of payment include cash, check, Venmo, or credit card (as applicable).

Packages must be used within 12 months of purchase unless otherwise stated.

7. Conduct and Behavior

All participants and accompanying persons are expected to behave respectfully toward staff, animals, and other clients. The Provider reserves the right to dismiss any individual who displays dangerous, disruptive, or disrespectful behavior without refund.

8. Photo/Video Release

By participating in lessons, participants consent to being photographed or filmed for promotional use unless they provide written notice opting out.

9. Health & Medical Authorization

In case of a medical emergency, the Provider has permission to contact emergency medical services and share relevant health information with responders. Riders must disclose any medical conditions, allergies, or medications that may impact participation.

10. Amendments and Governing Law

These terms may be updated by the Provider at any time. Continued participation implies acceptance of the latest version. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Maine.
